The Vermin Suicides logo and the Antipop link appear on the Kawasaki bikes of the PR Racing team (Quattro Plant Kawasaki) and despite a disappointing first result at Oulton Park the stickers should prove good luck for the racing team in weeks to come.

In this picture the elite mechanics show Antipop the special additions to the Superbike’s sexy bodywork. They may not be aerodynamically tested and they may not add 10kph to the top speed but they sure look good.

You can follow the progress of The Vermin Suicides and Antipop as they speed around the British Superbike Circuit throughout the season.

Appeals were made on the band’s behalf via social media sites Facebook , Twitter and Tumblr until a video was released via Youtube. Will the band we found in time to perform at the Liverpool Soundcity?

Hundreds of artists descend onto the seaside town including some Antipop favourites. Looking beyond the obvious headliners these are our top 5 picks for Rebellion 2012…so far.

5. Acid Drop

This Leeds quartet have the bit between their teeth and they bring a touch of class to this sick mess of punk palaver. More akin to Rancid than UK Subs, the Acid Drop sound is formed out of the US skate punk scene and they mix that with the Irish sound better than most of the US fake Irish bands. A full range, not all their songs are about beer and shagging but surely some of them are. Check out their new EP and if you like even one second of that check out the debut album ‘The Dropzone’ and you’ll be blown away.

4. Biteback

The only band we chose that are listed on the actual Rebellion flyer. Years of experience and countless Rebellion appearances as Instant Agony saw Hocky and Richie Rocker clock up the hours and now they return with Biteback a fierce-some three-piece. Currently in the studio working on their album which is expected this year.

3. The Vermin Suicides

Nowadays Dub Punk isn’t a mystery to anybody. when you can’t be ska or two-tone or you can’t decide if you’re dub or punk just throw it together and you get this groovy banging sound that ultimately comes from The you know who [Clash]. The Vermins do everything with a smile on their face and pride themselves on no two songs sounding the same. This however leads to great joy and confusion when the Romany Gypsy song is followed by the hardcore punk song followed by the hip hop rap. If you take yourself too seriously you’re going to get trapped. There’s no trapping these Vermin.

2. The Temps

A surprise to some maybe that a band that definitely are not mohawk punks are included here. But if you know Antipop you know we support The Temps all the way. Their jaggy cut on the Curtis and Mark E. Smith model went the opposite direction to The Horrors and came out with this gloomy incarnation of angry Scousers. No tattoos or safety pins here, only tight clothes and quiffs. The Temps go down each year at the Rebellion after party as good as anybody. You’ll be surprised how refreshing it can be.

1. Billy Liar

This guy could play the main stage at Empress Ballroom and keep the crowd interested. When he stands he stands alone. When he sings his heart pours out. He is a leader and a poet. Despite his young age Billy Liar radiates wisdom beyond his years. A must hear if ever there was a silent tip for Rebellion 2012.

Two Exclusive Free Entry Gigs

Antipop launched in 2009 with a sellout show at Liverpool Soundcity attended by people from all walks of life. In the three years since Antipop has evolved and developed as record label and artists services company. Hosting gigs across the world in the UK, Europe and USA, releasing a number of unique records and discovering some of the most exciting new music in the city.

To celebrate our third anniversary two exclusive free entry shows have been arranged in conjunction with Liverpool SoundCity 2012. We invite you to join us at Mello Mello for a late night after-party on Friday 18th May.

The UK/Irish three-piece are well underway in conquering the world. Relentless and extensive touring has seen The Dead Class collect a global fanbase. An exciting and rare hometown appearence.

Newcomers Elmo And The Styx have wasted little time in their assualt on the UK music scene with their electric debut EP Sexy Clowns and debut album in the pipeline.

Across the Easter weekend 7th and 8th April Mello Mello, Slater St, Liverpool hosts two full day line-ups of the ‘best of Free Rock and Roll’.

The 2012 Free Rock and Roll festival sees the return of many favourites that graced the stage of the famous jazz cafe. Local lass Emily Lansley performs as Emily and the Faves, the sumptuous folk pop sensation. See what they’re tweeting here

She is joined on a stellar line-up by one of the smallest names and best bands of the past ten years Wizards of Twiddly. The five-piece fusion band of multi-talented Liverpool musicians perform tracks old and new.  Their record People with Purpose is available via Antipop Records.

Antipop favourites The Vermin Suicides play early on the Sunday, and slot in among a huge bill of amazing talent and enjoyable bands. The evergreen and tongue-in-cheek political pranksters Pete Bentham and the Dinnerladies will woo crowds with a hometown gig

Whatever you’re doing, forget chocolate. Easter this year is about Free Rock and Roll.
